"Citizens Employment & Training and its staff are very supportive, caring and understanding. I have been able to improve my computer and customer service skills plus many other job related skills. My resume is now updated using current styles. I am so glad that I took that first step and made that first appointment with them".
Helping People Find Their Role in the Workplace!
Citizens Employment & Training was made possible thanks to the Older Americans Act. The Older Americans Act was written into legislation in 1965 for the purpose of providing the organization and delivery of social and nutrition services to older Americans and their caregivers. Shortly thereafter, in 1968 the Department of Labor was provided funding and SCSEP (Senior Community Service Employment Program) was launched as a pilot program to assist displaced farmers. This program provided funding to agencies such as Senior Service America who provided sub-grants to 11 local agencies, such as Citizens Employment and Training.
Senior Service America sub-granted with us in 1976 to serve Eau Claire, Dunn, and Chippewa Counties. In 2006 we added Wood and Portage Counties to our service area and in 2008 we added Barron, Taylor, and Clark Counties. The addition of these counties precipitated the opening of our outreach office located in Marshfield and the hiring of a SCSEP Employment Specialist to provide the services in that area.
If you are interested in our SCSEP program please call our office at (715) 839-5058 or (888) 772-4337
In 2008 we also added DVR (Division of Vocational Rehabilitation) services to our program. We currently serve Barron, Chippewa, Eau Claire, and Portage Counties through our DVR employment program. We have an Employment Specialist in Eau Claire and one in Marshfield who work with our DVR clients.
If you are interested in our DVR services your first step is to get in touch with your local DVR Office.
